Inverkan av Parkinsons sjukdom på vardagliga samtal
- Abstract:
- Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects speech, voice, language and communication. The majority of those living with PD develop dysarthria and many experience word-finding difficulties. Much of the research that has been done has focused on clinical measures of speech and language function. How PD affects conversation, and how a conversation partner adapts their communication to people with PD, is still relatively unexplored. The overall aim of the study is to investigate how PD affects conversation and how conversation partners adapt their communication to people with PD. People with PD and a control group consisting of relatives will discuss a moral dilemma in dyads. The moral dilemma is called the "Balloon task" and has previously been used to study dialogue in healthy participants and in a group of people with schizophrenia. The analysis method that will be used is conversation analysis where the research group will examine, among other things, the communicative behaviors of the conversation partner and the need for conversation repairs.
